A Letter From The President

Dear Franchisor,
Thank you for you interest in FranchiseUniverse.com.
Franchising is an intriguing business... one which has fascinated me for many years. My personal involvement started in 1989. I was an international commercial real estate specialist, and traveling internationally.
With the end of the Cold War, franchising seemed to be a solution for assisting budding entrepreneurs in the Eastern Bloc countries to become instantaneous capitalists.
Hundreds of thousands of individuals were in need of business education and business training. Since training and operating manuals are part of the franchise way, franchising offered a solution! With this in mind I represented AlphaGraphics, Big Boy Restaurants and others, selling master franchises internationally. We sold master franchises in every continent.
In 1994 I became frustrated with the slow international franchise selling process, and international time differences, and also began hearing about the possibilities of the Internet. Believing the Internet could expedite the franchise selling process and speed up communication, I registered the best URL for that purpose: FranchiseUniverse.com! The Internet seemed "a natural" for finding real estate locations, delivering disclosure documents electronically, etc. Distance would become a "non issue" respective to communication.
Initially most franchise companies did not have web sites, nor use e-mail, and the growth of and recognition of FranchiseUniverse.com was slow. Finally in 1998 and 1999 the market suddenly expanded when franchise companies opened their own web sites and e-mail accounts. FranchiseUniverse.companies thought prospects would find and go directly to their web sites. When it didn't happen they realized it was necessary to advertise for prospects using lead generation web sites such as ours.
Now, per Franchise Update magazine's Year 2000 Franchise Lead Generation Survey, 43% of all franchise leads are generated through the Internet, compared to only 16% in 1997. Currently, 23% of franchise sales are generated from Internet leads, compared to only 6% in 1997.
During that period of time our web site activity skyrocketed! From our first day, with only 6 website visitors, we progressed to 4,000 a day in just a few years! Over 20% of our unique visitors were International. Our "FranchiseUniverse.com" URL drove traffic to our web site. 82% of our unique visitors find FranchiseUniverse.com by simply typing in "franchise" or "franchiseuniverse.com."
We've established some policies and goals:
- To not sell or share leads with strategic partners or anyone else. Prospective franchise buyers proceed to the franchise opportunity sections on our web site and pursue a franchise directly with an advertiser and become a Fast Track Member the first time they submit a Request For Information specific to that franchise.
- To not provide leads based on requests "by franchise category." Prospective buyers provide their qualifications in detail on our Request For Information form, which is e-mailed, directly to advertisers they specifically select.
- Besides generating quality leads for franchisors, to provide additional services that will benefit the franchise industry cost-wise and time-wise.
Much has changed since our 1994 opening!
